My Winter semester 2012-2013 in Hochschule Heilbronn

First of all, I have to say that I was pretty excited when I found out that I would be sent to Heilbronn for the whole semester! I’ve never been to Germany before, that’s why I wanted to visit this country so much, especially to have such an opportunity for studying. I’m very grateful to Erasmus Program for such a chance, it’s really the best experience I’ve had so far.

I must say that it’s a great idea to send students to different countries for studying. It’s very useful and interesting for us because we can meet new people, find out customs and traditions of our friends from foreign countries. It’s also a good opportunity for us to practice foreign languages we already know and to master the new ones. It’s always so exciting to get acquainted with another culture. We can get the experience that we wouldn’t be able to get anywhere else and that’s what strikes me most!

We can learn, travel and have a good time while communicating with each other. Where could we get anything like that? My answer would be- nowhere. These are the best years of our lives and we must use them wisely. This is why I went to Germany for those 5 great months! I must say that we all were having a great time in there. I suppose that later we will be missing these times, that‘s for sure. I know I will.

If talking more detailed about my arrival to this beautiful country I must say that I was a little bit confused for the first few weeks. Everything was strange: the town, the language and the people. We should be thankful to our coordinators who have been helping us all these months. In my mind the introduction program was very useful for us as well. Of course I heard a lot of stereotypes about the German people. For example, I heard that they are very cold, strict and reserved, but I also heard that they are very punctual, hard-working and accurate. As those months have passed, I came to conclusion that some of these are true and some of those are false. Here everything depends on a person, their age and social status or even from which region of Germany they come. Every factor is important in this matter.

As a conclusion I can say that I was very lucky to be there. It’s has been a great experience for me. I met a lot of people, I found out something new and I had a chance to visit a few gorgeous cities of Germany. I think it was worth going here for the 5 months and I would gladly stay for another 5 months, if I had such an opportunity. I would recommend to every student to go to another country at least for 1 semester and have a great time there as I did.
